Sophie Perry (BA Hons, MA, NCTJ) is an award-winning journalist and the founder of the LGBTQ+ Journalism Network, a first-of-its-kind community for LGBTQ+ journalists in the UK. Her interests include social justice, arts and culture and LGBTQ+ issues.
Sophie is passionate about her work as a journalist.
She is fully trained in media law, public affairs and ethics, with skills in video creation, digital media and shorthand.
Her career highlights so far have seen her rescued from a sunken car by the fire service, scoop cat poo at an animal sanctuary, become a gin ‘scholar’ and join the Oxford University Boat Club out on the River Thames.





Sophie is the founder of the LGBTQ+ Journalism Network, a first-of-its-kind network aimed at providing advice, support and community to LGBTQ+ journalists across the UK.
Sophie is an award-winning journalist who has been honoured for her work to improve equality, diversity and inclusion in the industry.




Sophie has been invited to speak at several events including conferences, panels and workshops.
She has discussed issues of equality, diversity and inclusion in journalism, LGBTQ+ representation and safety and resilience.
