Sophie Perry (BA(Hons), MA, NCTJ) is a journalist whose role focuses on creator engaging and interactive web stories for a local audience. She is the founder of the LGBTQ+ Journalism Network, a first-of-its-kind community for LGBTQ+ journalists in the UK. She is passionate about social justice, arts and culture and LGBTQ+ issues. 

Sophie is passionate about her work as a journalist.

She is fully trained in media law, public affairs and ethics, with skills in video creation, digital media and shorthand.

Her career highlights so far have seen her rescued from a sunken car by the fire service, scoop cat poo at an animal sanctuary, become a gin ‘scholar’ and join the Oxford University Boat Club out on the River Thames.

In November 2021, Sophie was awarded Student of the Year for her National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) Studies at City of Wolverhampton College.

In March 2022, Sophie was Highly Commended at the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) Awards for Excellence
