In January 2023, Sophie took part in a virtual panel hosted by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) focusing on safety and resilience in journalism.
Aimed at students, the event sought to raise awareness about the ever-increasing risks journalists face and how students can manage these risks when they enter the news room.


In December 2022, Sophie took part in Empowered Journalism’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion workshop series, designed to ‘acknowledge and better understand the many intersectional feminist issues impacting those within journalism’.
The LGBTQ+ & Journalism EDI Workshop covered the LGBTQ+ Journalism Network and Sophie’s first-experiences in the industry.

In May 2022, Sophie spoke in front of industry leaders at the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ)’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion employers’ forum at the Financial Times in central London.
She on the importance of LGBTQ+ voices in the media and the work of the LGBTQ+ Journalism Network to create community and positive change.
In February 2022, Sophie spoke at the Coventry University Festival of Journalism on the Journalism and Equality panel.
The panel focused on representation within the industry and how to tell authentic stories from minority communities.


In May 2021, Sophie was asked to appear on a podcast run by Wolverhampton-based theatre group Ow Am Ya?
Sophie discussed her career in journalism; her education and how she’s gone on to write about Art & Culture and current social issues, including LGBTQ+ matters.
